It’s a day 5 of our trip and that means the
beginning of our Albania "adventure". It was really easy to get from
CFU to Saranda - Albania, only about thirty minute ferry ride... In Saranda,
you could already spot the difference, the bus stop had no sign, there was no
bus schedule, bunch of empty houses and literally shit ton of BMW and Mercedes
cars :D but that’s for the beginning, I was truly surprised how nice and
helpful everyone was...
Out of Saranda, we first headed to Butrint,
ancient ruins (UNESCO protected), about an hour away from Saranda. The bus was
totally overcrowded, but it still haven’t stopped the guy collecting money to
get it from everyone on the bus (if you take the bus in Balkan, you don’t pay the
driver, but a guy walks on the bus and collets money from everyone who gets
on). But it was not the only thing, about five minutes later, I heard someone
say a sentence in Czech, a 10 years old kid speaking fluent English, and bunch
of sentences in Czech and Polish he has learned from his brother’s polish
girlfriend :D haha
From Butrint we had to head back to
Saranda, to catch "some" bus going to Blue Eye - “Syri i
kaltër” (spot, where an underground ice cold river reaches the ground
level, cca 50m deep). I’ve seen videos of people jumping into the water, but
you definitely don’t want to do that especially (unless you want to get a heart
attack) when the air temperature is 40°C and the water has 10°C. But anyway, we
found a bus going from Saranda to Tirana, and asked if they’d drop us of
somewhere close to the Blue Eye and there was no problem with that. After a 2
km walk in that heat we were there, but only stepping in the water with one
foot caused a giant pain, like there were metal pins getting stuck in your
feet, but we made it, we dipped our whole bodies into the ice cold water!
Our final destination for that day was
Gjirokastër, really cute stone town in the mountains (also in UNESCO). As I
mentioned before, there was no bus stop, by the dirt road heading to the Blue
Eye, so we could only hope some bus would stop and take us to Gjirokastër, and
really after 10 minutes of waiting a furgon stopped.
Once in GJ, we found a hotel with really
“creepy” purple room and headed up to the town. And when I say UP, I really
mean UP, because anywhere you headed in GJ, you had to walk up and down! The
town is really beautiful with tons of little cute café’s and restaurants and
good food! I had the best Baklava of my life there!
This was the first day in Albania, more later…
Na pátý den našeho výletu jsme naplánovaly cestu
do Albánie, kam jsme se Corfu dostaly rychlotrajektem. Hned v Sarandě byl znát
rozdíl mezi Balkánem a západem Evropy, zastávka autobusu nijak označená, žádný
jízdní řád a všude samá BMW a Mercedesy :D ale jinak jsem byla Albánií hrozně
moc překvapená!
Ze Sarandy jsme jako první cestovaly do
Burtintu, starodávných románských ruin, které jsou na seznamu UNESCO. Autobus,
kterým jsme jely měl asi půl hodiny zpoždění a byl totálně přeplněný, že jsem
ani nemyslela, že by mohl odjet haha. Ale rozhodně to nezastavilo výběrčího aby
od každého vybral peníze za cestu.
Z Burtintu jsme musely zpět do Sarandy, odkud
jsme doufaly, že pojede autobus do další destinace našeho výletu do Modrého Oka
(místo kde se podzemní řeka dostává na povrch, má cca 10°C). Na “stanici” jsme
našly autobus jedoucí do Tirany a domluvily jsme se s řidičem, že nás vyhodí u
cesty na OKO. Dál jsme musely asi 2 km pěšky ve 40°C horku. Nakonec jsem to
zvládly a vykoupaly se, ale byl to docela boj se dostat do vody, jenom když
jsem si tam stoupla, tak mi hned začaly dřevěnět nohy (jako bych šlapala na
připínáčky). Další challenge byla cesta do Gjirokastër, jelikož autobus nás
vyhodil u cesty, kde nebyla žádná zastávka, musely jsme než doufat, že pojede
další a zastaví nám, ale asi po deseti minutách čekání nám zastavil furgon s
dovezl nás kam jsme potřebovaly.
V Gjirokastër jsme se ubytovaly v hotelu s
nejholčikovatějším (čti kýčovým) fialovým pokojem šly jsme na
průzkum města, jehož značná část je památkou UNESCO. Kamkoliv chcete v
Gjirokastër jít, musíte vyloženě šplhat po strmých kamenných chodnících. Našly
jsem neuvěřitelné množství krásných podniků a kaváren, kde jsem jedla tu
nejlepší a nejsladší Baklavu na světě!
